Mumbai: After a drab and dreary first quarter, movie lovers in India are really looking forward to the much-hyped, action-packed drama Kites. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Latina beauty Barbara Mori, theatre owners are all out to cash in on the situation by keeping an option for paid preview at various multiplexes i.e. people can get to see the film even before the official release on Friday. Definitely a good marketing strategy, the booking counters have apparently buzzing with activity, starting Wednesday.
The tickets rates for the previews, which generally come at a much higher price, don't really matter to the ardent Hrithik fans. Come what may, they won't let the opportunity to catch their favourite star go. If all
To find out if Hrithik-Barbara combo is indeed pulling the crowd to the theatres, we enquired a few theatre owners. Let's find out what they had to say...
Spokesperson at Movie Hub Goregaon informs, “We are having four shows on Thursday and the advancebooking for that particular show has already started. However, the ticket sale has not been up to our expectations. But am sure it will pick up tomorrow.”
Since the prices of paid previews are on the steeper side, this could be another reason for the lesser number of tickets sold.
Movie Hub has allocated seven screens for Kites and in a day it will have 32 shows starting from 8am.
Manger of Big Cinemas Vashi Nitin Waghmare reveals, “The advance booking has started but things are going little slower this time, unlike other big films in the past. But there's still time till Thursday evening. We are confident the paid preview will show a good report.”
Subodh of Cinemax is already smiling about the response coming from the sale of paid preview tickets. “We have got a very good response for the shows on Thursday. For Friday, few Cinemax outlets, like the one in Versova will have around 30 shows in a day.”
Films like Welcome, Singh is King, Om Shanti Om, Ghajini and the recent being 3 Idiots had paid previews
